Wet Leg & 羊文学 – Feb 2026

Show Date: February 18 2026, Tokyo

Wet Leg

This was my second time to get to see Wet Leg and I’ve only fallen more in love with their awesome lyrics, unmatched energy and growing attitude. The first time was back in 2023 after their first album where they barely had enough tracks to fill a 40-minute set. Since then, they’ve picked up a lot of awards and released a strong sophomore album. Rhian, the lead singer from the two main songwriters has also transformed (literally) into the ultimate rockstar of our time. My photos from the first time I saw them she was wearing a long, flowy skirt looking more Woodstock than rock. Since then she’s embraced the gym and become fearless in performance. But, what I love about this show, and the previous is that they are all still having so much fun. So much music takes itself so seriously, these guys are producing good music and having a great time doing it.

My current favorite song from the new album is “Mangetout” which we call a snow pea back in the US and in the song serves as a callout to the magic beans in Jack and the Beanstalk.

Hitsujibungku 羊文学

As a bonus a local band I was unfamiliar with opened for Wet Leg. HItsujibungaku, which translate basically to “sheep literature” opened. I admit, I was not expecting too much at first as the three women took the stage. I thought this was going to be another high-pitched singer maybe with some forgettable melodies. Then a wall of sound hit on the first chord and I was like, “what”? Me and several of the other foreigners were launching Shazam to figure out who this was since they were not listed on any of the promos. Since then, I’ve become a big fan, even going specifically to see them open for another band a few weeks later. I found after that they are big here in Japan and have toured internationally. Hitsuji appeared in a few anime and TV shows which is a launching pad for a lot of music, but they’ve also been going at it for over a decade.

Burning and Dogs are two of my favorite (also louder) songs but More than Words is the song I think that got them a lot of attention. I tend to give links to live performances which I prefer over most music videos.
